Ian Collinson, who had many years of trade experience with Whitbread PLC formed Oak Taverns Ltd in 1991. He started with two new Whitbread 20 year leases that he ran from the family home. The Company is now a family owned business which operate from offices in Thame and have a number of community locals and bars throughout the South East and East Anglia.
The properties are split between freeholds and leaseholds and are run under management and tenancy. Whilst it is intended to retain a core-managed estate, the business plan identifies the purchase of a number of small freehouses that can be developed and run under tenancy or lease.
The Company will operate these newly acquired properties under management whilst the investment and business development takes place. This will give the new licensee an opportunity to manage a business whilst receiving training and advice, before taking over their own pub. They will then continue to receive help and support from the Company throughout their tenancy.
